A Breakthrough Prayer for Waiting for God’s Timing

A Breakthrough Prayer for Waiting for God’s Timing

“We experience the adventure of intercession to the degree we have learned to wait on God. Everything about our human nature rebels against waiting. To those of us who were born in ‘overdrive’, waiting is not our favorite pastime. However, we discover that waiting on God in humility and faith because of who He is, and obeying His signals according to His timetable, are really where the exciting action is.” Joy Dawson

Are you waiting for something you’ve been praying about for a very long time and the answer has not come? Do you sometimes feel stretched to the very limit of your endurance? I don’t think there is one of us who hasn’t felt like this at times. In the fast-paced society in which we live we often feel that waiting is a complete waste of time. We are often consumed with activism and a results-oriented lifestyle. We want immediate results and find it so difficult to wait.

Did you know that your waiting could actually be strategic for breakthrough in prayer?

Many believers are presently facing the reality of delay. They are in a stage of waiting. It’s taking longer than expected. Could all of these delays possibly be engineered and designed by the Lord Himself? Could He be preparing His people for something really big, and only He knows how He must make them ready in the place of prayer and intimacy first?

This is a 4-minute teaching and prayer that will help you to wait for God’s timing in your life. It is called: A Breakthrough Prayer for Waiting for God’s Timing.

Our Call to Love God with All Our Heart

beautiful-blur-bright-326055

“Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’” This is the first and great commandment” (Matthew 22:37-38).

There is a huge battle going on that we each must personally face every day. We can easily think that our greatest challenge is a bad marriage, a wayward child, or a boring job. But the greatest battle we face is with our own heart. Every day we are tempted to not love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Interferences and the cares of this world can take a great toll on our relationship with God. But the truth is that we cannot work right unless we have the proper focus. We are designed to love God with all of our heart.

God wants the first commandment to be established in our life in first place.

To find the greatest joy in this life, loving God with all our heart should be our life mission statement. God will do everything to bring us to the place of putting Him first. He is so committed to helping us grow in love. He will take away all our options so that we move forward in our relationship with Himself. We often misinterpret His leadership in our lives because we don’t understand what He is after. He is removing all the clutter in order to get at the core of our lives – an extravagant love relationship with Himself. He is orchestrating our lives for greatness.

God will permit these interferences in life in order to teach us about His love. I’ve gone through a number of these earth-shaking experiences. Perhaps you have too. One was when I had breast cancer many years ago. Another was when I fell down the stairs and broke my heel and wrist, and was laid up for months. It can be a number of things: a broken marriage, a lost job, misunderstandings, but whatever it is, God is seeking our attention and focus. He can take these most difficult things and channel them into His greatest blessings, if we handle them right.

We wonder why these things happen to us. There can be many reasons and causes, but in all of them God is getting at our heart. My earth-shaking trials brought about great changes in my life as I saw what was most important in life.

Loving and living for God must be our top priority.

Our natural tendency is to focus on gaining more blessing on our circumstances whether in money, comfort, influence, or honor. We are so often locked into our circumstances, thinking if everything works out right, we will experience the greatest fulfillment. This is how we often interpret life. But that just doesn’t work because this life will never fulfill us.

The thrill and joy of a new house or car only lasts a short time. Soon there are repairs and breakdowns that we never anticipated, and we end up complaining about that which we thought would bring lasting ecstasy. We look forward to a long-awaited week’s vacation, but a few weeks later we forget about how we saved endlessly for a mere week away. Soon we are exhausted again and running the race of everyday life.

The first and greatest commandment is to love God (Matthew 22:38). It has the greatest impact on God’s heart and on our heart. It is the greatest calling. Jesus defines loving God as being the primary response He wants from us. He made us for a deep relationship with Himself. When we die we won’t bring our money, houses, or facebook “likes” and social media with us. But we will bring our growth in love and how much we love God and people.

Living Out the First and Greatest Commandment

“He answered, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself'” (Luke 10:27).

How do we make loving God our primary dream and ambition in this life?

  • Loving God with all our heart – Intentionally determine and enthusiastically set your love on God by determining that the primary dream of your life is to pursue living the first commandment. David, the man after God’s own heart, set His heart to love God (Psalm 18:1).

“Lord, help me to set my heart to love and pursue You wholeheartedly as my primary dream and greatest ambition in life.”

  • Loving God with all our mind – Fill your mind with things that inspire you to love God and not things that take you away from Him. Take time to fill your mind with His Word rather than violent movies and lustful temptations (Job 31:1). What we do with our mind affects our ability to receive and express love.

“Lord, help me to fill my mind with Your Word and with those things that inspire love, so that I can freely receive Your love and express it fully.”

  • Loving God with all our strength – We express love for God in how we use our strength and resources of time, money, energy, talents, words, and influence. God takes great delight in the small things we do that invest our strength in ways that express love for Him and help others to love Him. He loves when we serve, give, pray, and bless others.

“Lord, help me use my strength and resources of money, energy, talents, and influence in ways that express my love for you and help others to love you more.”

  • Loving God with all our soul – We express love for God with our soul when we exert our energy to realign our heart to center our relationship on Him, rather than on recognition or accomplishments. When our identity and primary success are in being ones who love God and are loved by Him, we are loving Him with all our soul.

“Lord, help me to exert my energy to realign my heart towards my relationship with You, rather than my accomplishments or recognition from others. Help me to love you and others with all my strength.”

An old man visiting London for the first time went into a great picture gallery. As he looked around, he saw a wonderful painting of Jesus hanging on the cross. He stopped to gaze at the picture with such great love for the one hanging on the cross. Love flooded his heart and all he could say was, “I love Him! I love Him!” Others heard this old man’s words and could see tears streaming down his cheeks as he stood before the picture, hat in hand, captivated by the love of God. Soon a stranger drew near him and grasped his hand, saying: “I love Him, too, brother.” A third steppe forward saying: “So do I.” Then a fourth and fifth stood before the picture, and then a whole group of people, perfect strangers, were drawn by the love of Jesus. (Gospel Herald)

This old man knew His greatest calling in life and had learned the most important lesson. He loved God with all his heart, mind, strength, and soul. There is no greater joy than loving God and then helping others to love Him too. Nothing will satisfy us long-term except God Himself, and all the other blessings will flow from loving Him. Let’s ask the Holy Spirit to make us a man or woman after His heart. His love makes it all possible. Life makes sense when we have this priority and learn to abide in His love.

A Prayer for a Heart After God

A Prayer for a Heart After God

“I believe strongly that one thing the devil seeks to do is to sneak in and subtly distract our attention from the purity and simplicity of loving God. He doesn’t mind if we exalt revival, healing, or anything else, as long as we lose our focus on the simplicity of heart-level lavish devotion to the Son of God.”  Mike Bickle

The battleground of the ages is activity. The outward is most immediate for our attention. It demands our time and energy. We can feel trapped by the tyranny of the urgent. It’s Satan’s great strategy. If he can keep us constantly active, he has gotten us. We no longer are the captain of our soul, and we so easily sink. An impulsive desire of mankind is to avoid concentration on God. It’s so easy to work for Him any day than to let Him work in us.

Does the devil tempt you with focusing on the externals of life rather than what is most important? Keeping Jesus as Lord of our life is the best way you and I can live. And when we do this, we learn to love others better.

This 4-minute prayer and teaching will help you to seek God with all your heart. It is called: A Prayer for a Heart After God

A Prayer to Keep God in the Center

A Prayer to Keep God in the Center

“The biggest battle we each might fight is to stay focused on God long enough to learn to abide in His presence. Before we can redeem the world, we must redeem our time. And we would think that with all the time saving conveniences we have in life, that this would be easy but it is not.” Francis Frangipane

A focused life is not scattered in many directions because of the distractions. A focused life always moves to the center even in the busiest times because it is like a magnet attracted to Jesus, knowing that He alone is the one who makes everything work when priorities are in order.

We used to live in Virginia Beach so we learned a lot about hurricanes. A few years ago we had a hurricane called Ernesto that swept through the area. Ernesto was not a very forceful hurricane, yet many trees fell because of the strength of the winds. Many people lost one or more trees during that hurricane. It left Virginia Beach in a huge mess with trees and branches lying everywhere.

The stability of the trees depended on how deep the roots went below the surface. Shallow roots could not stand the force of even a small hurricane. In Virginia Beach in mild weather you could never tell how deep a tree’s roots extended, but in a hurricane the truth was exposed. Shallow roots meant a big downfall. The roots just could not sustain the tree.

Likewise, right now God is developing our prayer life and the depth of our personal relationship with Him. He wants us to be stable and strong in difficult times as we keep Him in the center of our life.

This 4 1/2 minute prayer will help you to keep God in the center of your life. The Power of Forgiveness

The Power of Forgiveness

“We have been sent into the world to implement the rule of God on earth. Where there is discord we are to replace it with harmony. Where there is hatred we are to replace it with agape. Where there is an offense simmering into a murderous conflict, we are to replace it with forgiveness. When we choose to forgive, we invade the realm of darkness and defeat those dark forces with the power of a resurrected life.” Dudley Hall

Forgiveness is one of the most powerful responses that we could ever have, yet the steps in forgiving others may be difficult. Forgiving others is very hard. The love of Christ is the only way we can set free those who have deeply wounded us.

There is perhaps no greater gift you can offer God than a heart that knows the power of forgiveness and decides to set others free. Forgiving shows that the love, grace, and mercy of Jesus are operating in our lives. It is time to access this life-changing grace of forgiveness.

A Prayer For Knowing Your Identity in Christ

ben-white-146947-2

“The heart thinks! Therefore, if the enemy can bombard you with thoughts that produce fear and anxiety, he can then remove your ability to manifest the will of God in your life.” Chuck Pierce

Most people struggle with who they are in Christ. Our identity as humans is relentlessly under fire. If you look into the secret lives of people in all walks of life, you find individuals who try to look big on the outside but who are crying deeply for love on the inside. A worldwide problem is not being able to love ourselves the way that God loves us. Most of us do not do this well.

God desires that each one of us knows Him as a loving Father. It seems that every one of us needs to grow in understanding this wonderful reality on a deep heart level. We all know this in our heads, but when it comes to being truly confident in the love that God our Father has towards us personally, we often fall short. Our lives are often filled with anxiety, worry, and depression because we listen to the lies of the enemy instead of God’s truth. So many have lost their identity and do not know who they really are.

There was a well-known man who stepped onto a platform to speak at a convention. As he looked at the large crowd of people, he asked, “Can anybody tell me who I am?” He had lost his memory and had no record of his past or his identity. In his deep desperation he was really asking, “Does anybody know who I am?”

If we want to fulfill our calling and purpose in life, we must know who we are in Christ. Knowing our Father’s love and care is absolutely essential. We must have the firm assurance of His love in ourselves because we are called to spread the good news of the Father’s love through Christ to a lost and dying world. What do the people of other religions miss? They miss the reality of knowing the love of God. They believe in numerous gods who cannot love, care and truly help them in their daily lives. To successfully fulfill God’s will in our lives without fear and anxiety, we must have a right view of ourselves and know our true identity in Christ.

We all need to hold a loving hand that is bigger and stronger than our own.

A Prayer For Knowing Your Identity in Christ

Lord, I pray that You would unlock my heart that I might be fully alive to my true identity in You. Give me clear revelation to see myself the way You see me. Help me to stand in Your truth against all enemy attacks and guard my heart with all vigilance (Proverbs 4:23). Help me to identify the lies, and reveal to me any places where I am chained to the past in a negative way. I repent of any lies of the past. [Name those lies and ask God to forgive you.] Teach me to hear Your voice and not believe the enemy’s destructive lies about who I am. I thank You for my uniqueness and that I am made in Your image (Genesis 1:27). I want to understand and feel the deep things in Your heart for me (1 Corinthians 2:10-12). I choose to believe the truth about how You see me. I thank You that I can hope in the future and believe in the good destiny that You have for me. You have vision for my future. Help me to live a fruitful life now and overflow with Your love to others. Give me greater authority in my prayer life. I want to know You on a deeper level, and I don’t want anything to hinder my relationship with You.

I thank You that [Say your name instead of “I”]: I am Your child (John 1:12), I have been justified (Romans 5:1), I am Your friend (John 15:15), I belong to You (1 Corinthians 6:20), I am a member of Your body (1 Corinthians 12:27), I have been established, anointed, and sealed by You (2 Corinthians 1:21-22), I am a citizen of heaven (Philippians 3:20), I am blessed in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3), I am chosen before the creation of the world (Ephesians 1:4, 11), I am holy and blameless (Ephesians 1:4), I am forgiven (Ephesians 1:8; Colossians 1:14) I am adopted as Your child (Ephesians 1:5), I have purpose (Ephesians 1:9; 3:11), I have hope (Ephesians 1:12), I am included (Ephesians 1:13), I am an overcomer (1 John 4:4), I am protected (John 10:28), I am a new creation (2 Cor. 5:17), I am qualified to share in Your inheritance (Colossians 1:12), I am the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21), I am safe (1 John 5:18), I am part of Your Kingdom (Revelation 1:6), I can understand what Your will is (Ephesians 5:17), I have God’s power (Ephesians 6:10), and I am victorious (1 Corinthians 15:57).

Thank You for this new identity I have in You. Help me to live out this truth in my life every day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
